The music is without a doubt a high point of the series, since it does focus on the music, duh. The main characters certainly inspire a lot of empathy and I found that to be enjoyable. The underdog is always easy to root for. The usage of english in the series is very prominent, and do pretty well. It's not random gibberish, so breathe a sigh of relief.

The music. They reuse a lot of songs, to the point where you'll be very tired of hearing them. The side characters don't receieve enough charactization in my opinion. They don't seem to grow themselves a whole lot.

📖 Overview

A tantalizing series about following your dream. A boy picks up a guitar one day and then enters a world of music and painful work hoping for a shot at happiness.

🎬 Storyline & Narrative

The story is a bit cliche as far as things go. Boy meets a musician, boy decides to become a musician himself. The plot follows in-depth towards the main character, Koyuki, and his one bandmate, Ryuusuke. The others, while being explored, get far less time than these two. The plot tends to dip between slower moments of exploration on the characters and more fast paced episodes about their music and performances. I found myself getting pretty worked up and involved with the storyline. It defintely grabs you and sucks you in. A little romance and danger is thrown in, because what's music these days without sex and violence in the mix?

👥 Characters & Dynamics

The characters are unique and blend together well. Competitive friends and enemies, mentors, classmates. Some of the people are louder than life and others subtle enough to be normal japanese people. The mix of unique and plain defintely sets the tone for the band coming togetherd. Beck, the band's mascot is worth noting. I don't want to ruin the surprise that he is, you'll like it.

🎨 Animation & Visual Direction

The animation is pretty fluid and sharp. Reusing some of the band performances, hurt the quality a bit, but to be fair there are a lot of band performances and new animation for each one would be murder on the budget.

🎵 Voice Acting & Soundtrack

The music is high quality, and the voice acting is pretty top notch. I have no experience with a dub of this so I can't comment on the english voices. a lot of english is used in this series, far more than I've heard in any other series. You shouldn't find anything harsh or unlikable with this series.
