Kyuuketsuki Miyu
Overview
This is by far one of my favourite films I have seen as of yet. It tells one of my own story passions, Vampires, in a wonderful setting and with even more fascinating cast of characters.
Storyline & Narrative
The tale follows a spiritualist named Himiko, who in her dealings with the spiritual needs of others came across a strange girl. Miyu is the last of her people, the last of the Vampires. It is her duty in the realm of man to return all Shinma back to their etetnal slumber. Her only friend on this long journey is a silent Shinma named Larva. The Shinma are beings that are both God and Demon and once walked with man freely, but some still walk among mankind, preying on them leaving only death and misery in their waking.
Characters & Dynamics
What can I say? Miyu is one of the best lead women roles I've ever seen. Appearing and quite able to act as a child as the mood suits her, but a very determined woman, who knows her duty in life. Larva her dark silent companion, her only friend and her only love. He was sworn his life to aid her and will gladly give it to save her.
Animation & Visual Direction
The animation was wonderful. The character animations is beautiful and the scenery was fascinating mix of Light and Dark to show the ever present elements of Hope and Sorrow in life.
Voice Acting & Soundtrack
All of the characters had voices that suited them perfectly. From Miyu's childlike voice, to the deep voices of some of villians.
