Super Cat Girl Nuku Nuku
Overview
Nuku Nuku is a Cat Girl Android (She literally has the brain/tendencies of a cat) who attends school, takes catnaps and chases mice while acting as a bodyguard for Ryuunosuke (young kid) from his mother's crazy schemes to win him back in what amounts to a very bizarre sort of custody battle.
Storyline & Narrative
This six episode OAV is a light-hearted and humorous series. Inventor Kyuusaku Natsume has created Nuku Nuku to protect his son from the crazy schemes his high strung mother keeps coming up with to get him back into custody (And do all the domestic chores of course!).
Lady Akiko (That's Ryuunosuke's mom) has all the goodies of a large corporation, Mishima Heavy Industries, to throw at her quest to retrieve her son and it keeps Nuku Nuku busy 'playing' with her toys. The stuff that happens every episode is really funny. I especially like the humor they get out of showing various guys drooling over Nuku's killer bod. You definitely don't lack for comical character interactions and pathetic, humorous "villains" in this series.
Characters & Dynamics
Nuku Nuku is the star of course, and her cat-like personality is relied upon to produce some cute moments and plenty of comical moments. The way she's oblivious to the attentions of the hormonally driven males is really funny. Notice the word funny popping up a lot? Hehe, I think I'm making my point. The "villains" are more humorous and pathetic than evil. They try so hard but never win. You'd almost feel sorry for them if you weren't laughing so much :)
Animation & Visual Direction
Good quality animation. The characters are detailed and the facial animations play a big part in getting across the humor of a particular scene. Well done.
Voice Acting & Soundtrack
Great voice acting. Nuku Nuku's naivete and cat persona are extremely believable, not an easy trick to pull off. Lady Akiko's assistants act and talk exactly like the hapless, put upon pair they are supposed to be. And the two different intro songs are excellent and worth listening to on their own.
