🎬 Storyline & Narrative

Perfect Blue is the story of the Mima Kirigoe, member of a hot and rising trio of teeny, cutesy pop singers.

With her rising fame, she decides to move into acting and expand her career. However, her life begins to fall apart as paranoid delusions begin to haunt and dominate her as she tries to come to grips with the seedier side of acting having come from the sugary sweet world of the teen pop singer.

Perfect Blue is brilliantly crafted in the style of big hollywood suspense thrillers and pulls off edge of your seat moments flawlessly.

👥 Characters & Dynamics

Mima Kirigoe is the ultra sweet and innocent pop icon member of Charm, who decides to try to use her fame to launch an acting career.

Rei and Yukiko are the other two members of Charm, her friends who continue the group after she leaves.

Rumi is Mima's close friend, supporting her and trying to help her when things get rough.

Obsessed fans, jeering detractors and Mima's agent all make up the conflicting ropes, pulling her mind in every direction.

🎨 Animation & Visual Direction

I found some of the art in Perfect Blue a bit odd. Maybe I'm just not used to round noses in anime. hehehe. But still overall it was well drawn.

🎵 Voice Acting & Soundtrack

Excellent. To be able to pull off the tension and drama of this type of movie the voice acting is superbly done, emphasizing emotion, and increasing the overall tension of the movie.
